What are the Regions of Singapore?

Singapore is divided into five regions for urban planning: Central, East, North, North- East and West. They were defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Singapore's national planning agency, and are divided into 55 smaller planning areas, such as Jurong West, Tampines and Woodlands. Because Singapore is a city-state, it has no regional governments, so these regions exist mainly for planning, statistics and development. They were set up in the 1990s as part of the URA's long-term planning system, which divided the island into areas so that housing, transport and green spaces could be planned across the country. The Central Region contains the city centre, while the other regions contain the major housing towns.

Current quiz contains 5 regions: Central, East, North, North-East, West.
