What are the Capitals of Asia?

A capital city is the seat of a country's government, home to its parliament, head of state and ministries. This quiz covers the capitals of 43 Asian countries, which range from some of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, such as Damascus, to cities built from scratch in the last century. Beijing has served as China's capital for most of the past 700 years, and Tokyo became Japan's capital when the emperor moved there from Kyoto in 1868. Other capitals were deliberately planned: Pakistan built Islamabad in the 1960s to replace Karachi, Kazakhstan moved its capital from Almaty to Astana in 1997, and Myanmar moved its government from Yangon to Naypyidaw in 2005. Indonesia is building a new capital, Nusantara, on the island of Borneo.
