What are the Capitals of Africa?

A capital city is the seat of a country's government, where its parliament, head of state and ministries are based. Africa has 54 countries, and this quiz covers the capitals of 48 of them. Many African capitals grew from coastal ports or administrative centres founded during the colonial era, such as Dakar, Nairobi and Kinshasa, while others are ancient cities like Cairo and Addis Ababa. After independence, several countries built or chose new capitals to reflect national unity or a more central location: Nigeria moved its capital from Lagos to the purpose-built city of Abuja in 1991, Tanzania designated Dodoma in 1973, Côte d'Ivoire chose Yamoussoukro in 1983, and Botswana built Gaborone in the 1960s. South Africa is unusual in having three capitals: Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein.

Current quiz contains 48 capitals . You will be randomly asked 30 of them: Abuja, Accra, Addis Ababa, Algiers, Antananarivo, Asmara, Bamako, Bangui, Banjul, Bissau, Brazzaville, Bujumbura, Cairo, Conakry, Dakar, Djibouti (city), Dodoma, Freetown, Gaborone, Harare, Juba, Kampala, Khartoum, Kigali, Kinshasa, Libreville, Lilongwe, Lomé, Luanda, Lusaka, Malabo, Maputo, Maseru, Mbabane, Mogadishu, Monrovia, N'Djamena, Nairobi, Niamey, Nouakchott, Ouagadougou, Porto-Novo, Pretoria, Rabat, Tripoli, Tunis, Windhoek, Yamoussoukro, Yaounde.
