What are the Capitals of Australia and Oceania?

This quiz covers the capital cities of seven countries and territories in Australia and Oceania: Canberra, Wellington, Port Moresby, Suva, Honiara, Port Vila and Nouméa. Several of them were chosen as compromises or for practical reasons. Canberra was selected in 1908 as a neutral site between rivals Sydney and Melbourne, was designed by architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin, and has housed Australia's parliament since 1927. Wellington replaced Auckland as New Zealand's capital in 1865 because of its central position. Suva became the capital of Fiji in 1882, replacing Levuka, and Honiara grew out of a Second World War military base before becoming the capital of the Solomon Islands. Most of these capitals are also their country's largest city and main port.
