What are the Flags of Australia and Oceania?

This quiz covers the flags of seven countries and territories in Australia and Oceania. Their designs reflect both the region's British colonial history and its Pacific identity. The flags of Australia, New Zealand and Fiji all keep the British Union Jack in the corner, and the stars of the Southern Cross, a constellation only visible from the Southern Hemisphere, appear on the flags of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Australia's flag was chosen through a public design competition in 1901, the year the country federated. Papua New Guinea's flag, with its bird of paradise, was designed in 1971 by a 15-year-old student, Susan Karike. New Caledonia, a French territory, uses the French tricolour.
