What are the Countries of Australia and Oceania?

This quiz covers the main countries and territories of Australia and Oceania: Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Most of them became independent during the 20th century. Australia was formed on 1 January 1901, when six British colonies federated into the Commonwealth of Australia. New Zealand became a dominion in 1907 and gradually gained full independence. Fiji became independent from Britain in 1970, Papua New Guinea from Australia in 1975, the Solomon Islands in 1978, and Vanuatu in 1980, after almost 75 years as the Anglo-French condominium of the New Hebrides. New Caledonia is still a French territory; its voters rejected independence in referendums held in 2018, 2020 and 2021.
